Q: What’s your favorite aspect/project of the Ethernity Ecosystem?
A: I started my career in the world of media and ultimately helped start and produce the CNBC Crypto Trader show. What I saw as most effective in the field was the studio like system networks employed to create, develop, and distribute content (from movies, tv, games, parks, and more) to a wide array of targeted audiences. This system took decades to perfect. Today, Ethernity started with the same vision to build up to a studio like model where different verticals using different products encircle the original central creation. Yet, we’re developing it far faster!
Q: How did you get involved in Web3?
A: As mentioned above, I started in news and docs working globally covering war zones, disaster areas from Iraq to Gaza and North Korea to Venezuela. I then covered a lot of environmental issues and eventually tech for networks like CNN, Current, Discover, & MSNBC. I took an early interest in Bitcoin while covering Africa in 2014 and saw its power to first help the unbanked in the developing world. I was then running various productions with large crews overseeing creative and technical content. By 2017 I joined the CNBC Crypto Trader team and was fortunate to then meet every headliner in the industry for the next three years until Covid-19 changed the world as we knew it. I had known Nick from covering the industry and jumped at the chance to join the web3 revolution.
Q: What draws you to crypto/NFTs/blockchain?
A: 1: Ownership: Having worked at major media conglomerates and seen the rise of the web2 world firsthand out of Silicon Valley — data was in the hands of advertisers and platforms with no ownership by its users. Crypto, NFTs, & blockchain, the veritable web3 world, changes all that.
2: Participation: This new web3 world not only encourages, but in fact relies on its users and community participating in creation, sales & resales, and ownership of these assets.
Q: If you could live at any time in history, when would that be and why?
A: The Gold Rush across the American west in the mid-1800’s. Imagine the 1840’s where pioneering young immigrants could make their way west across the rugged untouched West to join a booming industry just taking off prospecting gold and settling an all new frontier. The opportunity, the encouragement of risk, and the promise of a bright new future — all somewhat in tune with web3 today!
Q: What’s your favorite thing about working for Ethernity?
A: Our team. Many don’t see what goes on behind the scenes here. We’ve fostered a sense of team and family among our core group. We have a daily all hands call without fail at 8:30am (pt, ha), and are constantly plugged in with our developers, partners, and community no matter that market conditions. I’m happy to say half of our core team are young parents who really help put things in perspective.
Q: How would you describe your personality in 3 words?
A: Adventurous, empathetic, generous.
Q: What’s one food you couldn’t live without?
A: None, I’m a utilitarian in many ways and could make due in any circumstance.
Q: What book(s) changed your life?
A: The Matrix, The Goonies, & JFK
Q: What is your favorite quote(s)?
A: “The world will be tokenized.”
Q: What tech development in crypto do you think will disrupt things the most in 2024 & 2025?
A: The convergence of Ai & blockchain/crypto. Ai will need the power of decentralized compute as well as the elimination of third parties and an instant verification layer.
