Title: Chief Product Officer (CPO)

Q: What’s your favorite aspect/project of the Ethernity Ecosystem?

A: My favorite will definitely be Fanable, which I believe will be groundbreaking and much needed in the space. It will be a hybrid of web2 and web3, which is great, especially since we aim to reach the masses. Additionally, being first movers is always fun and exciting. However, I appreciate that Ethernity’s ecosystem touches on different aspects of crypto and blockchain in general; it encompasses a variety of products, which is desirable in any ecosystem. The common denominator across these is ERN.

Q: How did you get involved in Web3?

A: The first time I ever heard about web3 was very early on, around the time Bitcoin was launched, introduced to me by my brother and cousin. It was a big deal, and if I remember correctly, they even moved to China for a year to mine it. I personally didn’t pay much attention to it until I moved to the US (originally, I am from Sweden). I began to follow it closely but didn’t get involved until around 2016/2017. That’s when I started to extensively read and research everything related to Ethereum. I became obsessed with it, and that’s when I fully understood that this would change the future forever. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Q: What draws you to crypto/NFTs/blockchain?

A: Self-custody definitely played a huge part, as did transparency. However, what I really appreciate is that you are in charge, and there is no third-party interference. The idea of being your own bank is very appealing to me and I can’t wait to see where it takes us.

Q: If you could live at any time in history, when would that be and why?

A: I appreciate the current times for many reasons, but if I were forced to choose another era to live in, it would definitely be the ’90s. That period is, by far, my favorite. Everything seemed easier and better back then. I’m really into ’80s and ’90s nostalgia. Sure, the digital era has brought about incredible innovation, but it’s like a double-edged sword. While advancements are great, they often tie us to our computer screens all day. We sometimes lose ourselves and get so caught up in technology that we forget to disconnect, be active, and truly live. The ’90s represented a more active, pre-internet era where life was less about digital screens and more about real-world experiences. The music, the simplicity of life before the digital boom, and the sense of community really connect with me. I have amazing memories from that time, which remind me of a simpler, more direct way of living. However, I admit I’m guilty of being glued to my computer too, working day and night — it’s the irony of modern life.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about working for Ethernity?

A: It is most surely about innovation, creativity, pushing boundaries, and finding solutions to the numerous problems that arise in the web3 world. I often question myself: Why not just focus on web2, where everything is so much easier and can be solved in less time? However, I always come back to the idea that reshaping the future always comes with challenges. Plus, I really like our team at Ethernity. I believe we are poised for big things. Working at a startup, which I consider Ethernity to be, is fun because everyone is passionate and motivated not by financial gain, which can be short-lived, but by innovation and the drive to create something great. It might sound cliché, but it really is that simple.

Q: How would you describe your personality in 3 words?

A: Honest, Loyal and Hardworking

Q: What’s one food you couldn’t live without?

A: Nothing that comes to my mind to be honest. I am pretty easy going when it comes to food.

Q: What book(s) changed your life?

A: No book has significantly changed my life so far, as I believe life experiences have a far greater impact. However, a big favorite of mine is ‘Building a StoryBrand’ by Donald Miller. It’s a must-read if you are into marketing!

Q: What is your favorite quote(s)?

A: I remember hearing the phrase, “It’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” I think it’s incredibly relevant to business as well. It’s about valuing the importance of taking risks and really embracing the whole journey, not just the parts that work out perfectly. Because when you think about it, it’s those risks and the experiences we gather along the way that shape us, not just the outright successes.

Q: What tech development in crypto do you think will disrupt things the most in 2024 & 2025?

A: There is so much happening in the crypto space right now, including the establishment of ETFs and multi-chain adaptation, to name just a few developments. However, I believe that Real World Assets (RWAs) and the simplification of user experiences will significantly impact 2024 and 2025. There’s a clear need, and if we aim to onboard the masses, building an easier-to-understand UI/UX and linking it to real-world assets — whether it’s a physical Pokémon card, a rare comic, a video game, or a gold bar — is crucial. Web2 users perceive value and fundamentals differently compared to web3 users; their mindsets differ. To effectively bridge the gap between web2 and web3, hybrid versions need to be introduced. It’s all part of the evolution and the journey; everything comes in phases. Currently, we are in an ‘acceptance’ phase for web2 users, where taking the first step is like dipping your toes in the water. It’s still a love or hate relationship with web3, but physical assets are something they understand and perceive as tangible. Moving forward, I believe the unstoppable wave of digital adoption will make many physical items very rare, with users increasingly interacting with their digital counterparts. I am also a strong believer in the disruption of gaming. While I’m not certain it will happen by 2024/2025, it’s inevitable at some point. It simply makes a lot of sense for gamers, where the play-to-earn model, paired with self-custody and transparency, holds great appeal. All I know is that exciting times lie ahead. We are at the forefront of this crypto development phase, and we at Ethernity will continue to push boundaries and create innovative solutions!

Tune in next week to learn all about the next valued Ethernity team member, Sergio!
